My Mission

I believe that a patchwork family is the ideal place to nourish the heart, a place where hearts can remain loving, soft, open, and creative.

Nova, my favorite redhead creation, said it wisely: “Patchwork families are like patchwork quilts; you pick up the pieces that make you smile, and you sew them to the other pieces that make you smile until your collection is so big that it covers your heart. No more cold toes, no more cold tears. That’s how it works.”

My Family

My patchwork family spans a wide spectrum of personalities, hopes, ambitions, and talents. Some of my patches include the one I am married to, the ones I gave birth to, the ones who share DNA, and the ones I have chosen simply because they are wonderfully made.

Perhaps the best way to show you the magic and beauty of it all is to let you gaze through the windows of The Jensen Home of Education and Shenanigans, a place where education encompasses all facets of life and shenanigans are essential.

My Books

Astrid Beeswax hears everything. She has no choice. When she uses her gift to uncover the corruption and evil of Doily Dayle, she realizes that she cannot stop such great evil alone. Only with her patchwork family can Astrid succeed.

Join the quirky cast of Doily Dayle as the bonds of love and loyalty are tested!

My Current Projects

From writing a hope-filled book for new mothers to designing my flagship Young Author Program to the simple joy of sewing quilts, I love to create those things that bring encouragement and cheer to others. Get the details and updates here!

Meet My Family

  • "A heart burdened and hardened with hate cannot feel the joys of friendship, devotion, compassion, mercy, encouragement, forgiveness, and the love that builds the treasure banks of the truly wealthy. "

    Astrid Beeswax, The Sting

  • "Showing kindness to your crying friends means you don’t tell them why they shouldn’t be crying."

—Nova, Chronicles of the Fire Child

  • "Forgiveness is a gift given rather than a trade made. "

—Mr. Pip, Astrid Beeswax, The Venom

  • "True love is an earnest desire for the well-being of another; to shower them with affection and attention, to seek ways to lighten their burden, to laugh, and to say sorry."

—Astrid Beeswax, Chronicles of the Fire Child
